My name is David Coggin. I am a sophomore here at
Lenoir-Rhyne studying accounting. I am a full time student. I was born and
raised in Salisbury NC which is only an hour east of Hickory. Both of my
parents work. My father actually works at Catawba College in Salisbury. My
mother is currently at home recovering from hip replacement surgery that she
had at the end of the year. I only have one sibling. My brother just started
his last semester studying architecture at UNC Charlotte.
I am
fairly confident using a computer. I have worked with Excel a good amount.
However I cannot say the same thing Access. I know I have used Access before
but I do not remember much about it. I think I worked with it in middle school
and do not know if I have used it since then. The last computer class I took
was in my senior year in high school. I did not use Excel or Access in that
class. It was all writing code and creating webpages. From this class I hope to
finish with a greater understanding of Excel and be reminded what Access is and
how to use it. I am taking this class because it is required for my major.
Sports
have always been of great interest to me. While I did not come to school to
play sports I still try to take advantage of every opportunity to play. I play
Ultimate Frisbee here as a club sport. I also try to participate in intramural
sports whenever I can. I have actually won two championships in intramural
soccer in my first two years here. Basketball is another sport that I play
regularly. While I like competing in sports it also keeps me in shape.
Not
only do I enjoy playing sports, but I watch a lot of sports also. Since I am
from North Carolina I cheer for local teams like the Panthers and Bobcats. My
parents are from further south so not all of my teams are local. I have family
in Atlanta and I am a huge Braves fan. My parents both went to the University
of Georgia so I am also a big Bulldog fan. I do not have a college basketball
team that I cheer for but I look forward to March Madness every year.
I hope
this helps people get know me a little better.
An understanding of Excel will give you a good foundation in this course. Just make sure that you start reading the book a little closer when we start covering topics that are new to you. I look forward to working with you.
